Vedanta is regarded as a pinnacle in the scientific, philosophical and spiritual heritage of India. The rich treasures of sublime thought and profound wisdom contained therein have always caught the attention of serious scientists, scholars and educationists from all over the planet. Erwin Schrödinger, one of the founding fathers of modern physics, was greatly influenced by Vedanta, so much so that he wrote‘The Vedantic Vision’ as the concluding chapter in his most famous book, What is Life? Similarly, many other scientists and scholars like Werner Heisenberg, Carl Sagan, Max Muller, Henry Thoreau and many others were attracted by it. The present conference aims to unlock the hidden gems of wisdom contained in Vedanta for the serious attention of scientists and scholars.
The conference is a vision of perhaps one of the most illustrious Scientist-Saint, Dr. T. D. Singh (H. H. Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami). Dr. Singh, though a scientist with a PhD from University of California, Irvine, underwent serious studies in Bhakti-Vedanta tradition of India. Being deeply touched at heart by the precious wisdom contained in Vedanta, he felt the need to propound it and thus founded ‘Vedanta and Science Educational Research Foundation.’ Dr. Singh also authored numerous books interfacing Vedanta and modern scientific and technological disciplines such as, Vedanta and Science – Life and Origin of Universe, Vedanta and Biotechnology, Vedanta and the Science of Aging and many others. He also desired to hold regular conferences on Vedanta and Science and thus this conference.
The First International Congress on Vedanta and Science will be held at Manipur. Manipur, exclaimed as the Switzerland of India by Jawahar Lal Nehru, is one of the most beautiful states in North-east India. Located at the foothills of Himalayas, Manipur is surrounded by seven hills and is blessed with numerous scenic places such as beautiful loktak lake. It has maintained its rich
and unique culture from thousands of years, very much like India, which, even in the midst of advancing scientific and technological developments, has anchored to its Vedantic heritage.
This two day conference will bring together various scientists and scholars from all over India and abroad. The conference will have following themes:
1. Road to Ultimate Reality: An Overview and Relevance of Vedantic Schools of Thoughts in Scientific Age
